What Is Left – That also goes

It is a delicate and fraught process to clear a house.

The cupboards, wardrobes and drawers are a personal archive of intimacy and order.
They are storehouses of the self that one was and wanted to be.

I empty the cupboards as I have emptied the rooms, piece by piece.
I take in my hands a memory or a dream, wrap it up and put it away.  

And I dismantle that life.
